Multimedia is often unnecessary.

I saw this link to a story on Burma's hip-hop scene, which is an interesting topic for sure - what I found is a Slate video that is needlessly animated and features no audio samples of the Burmese hip-hop. You can't skim a video like you can with text, so I ended up spending 2 minutes to watch something with no visual purpose, and hear something with no beneficial auditory purpose. If it were text I could have skimmed it and gotten what I wanted from it in 25 seconds.

OK, Gelato won't let me embed a non-YouTube video (way to continue Google's domination of the Internet, Gelato) but you're better off not bothering with it.

It's not worth pausing the R. Stevie Moore album I'm listening to for this!!!
